The Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport (ADEPT) represents place directors from county, unitary and combined authorities, along with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and corporate partners drawn from key service sectors [1].

It is a membership based, voluntary organisation with over 80 local authorities, 3 combined authorities, 3 sub-national transport bodies, 12 LEP's and 18 Corporate Partner members across England. ADEPT represents members' interests by proactively engaging central Government on emerging policy and issues, responding to consultations and enquiries, and promoting initiatives aimed at influencing Government policy. ADEPT also represent public sector interests[1].

Members are predominantly from English authorities; however, ADEPT are closely affiliated with the County Surveyors’ Society (CCS) Wales, the Society of Chief Officers of Transport in Scotland (SCOTS) and the Department for Infrastructure Northern Ireland plus the London Environment Directors Network and Transport for London[1].
