A new term ‘Collected Household Waste’ has recently been introduced used as to differentiate between these streams. It is defined and measured differently from Municipal Solid Waste.

[[Local Authority Collected Waste]] ([[LACW]]) refers to all [[waste]] collected by the [[Waste Collection Authority]]. This is a slightly broader concept than [[LACMW]] and [[Household Waste]] as it includes both this and non-municipal fractions such as [[Construction and Demolition Waste]]. LACW is the definition that is used in statistical publications, which previously referred to [[Municipal Solid Waste]].
