Meat and Bone Meal (MBM) is the product of Rendering and under the Animal By-Products Regulations and it is split into 3 categories

  • Category 1 can only be disposed of via Incineration
  • Category 2 can be disposed of by Incineration or by pressure Rendering for subsequent processing at an approved AD facility (very little Category 2 material is processed separately from Category 1 so in a mixed form Incineration is the main disposal route).
  • Category 3 can be disposed of in an AD facility with no prior processing or treatment.
