Summary
Clinical Waste Incinerator operated by Tradebe Healthcare National Ltd and located adjacent to Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, Worcestershire. It has a permitted capacity to incinerate approximately 10,000 tonnes of waste per annum[1]. The facility accepts clinical waste from across the local areas including local hospitals, GPs, dentists etc[1].
Plant[2]
The Installation is a single line incinerator designed to have a capacity to process 1.5 tonnes (maximum) of waste an hour (approximately 10,000 tonnes a year). Clinical Waste including hazardous waste is collected and delivered to the site from Hospitals and other generators of clinical/hazardous waste. The waste arrives in wheeled bins ready for loading directly into the feed hopper of the incinerator. Energy is recovered from the combustion gases in the form of steam by a waste heat boiler, steam is produced at a maximum 6,000 Kg/hour and supplied @ 10 bar to the adjoining Hospital. Steam not required is condensed and put back to the Hopsitals hot well.
The facility comprises the whole of the incineration plant and site: waste reception, waste storage, fuel and air supply facilties, boiler, facilities for the treatment of exhaust gases, treatment and storage of residues and waste water, stack, devices and systems for controlling incineration operations and the the recording and monitoring of incineration conditions.
Waste Tonnage, By Origin
The table shows a list of the Waste for the Permit VP3136ZD, that has arrived into sites as reported to the Regulator and then publicised in their reported statistics. The Data used is from the most recent returns. The total reported tonnage arriving at the site was: Expression error: Unexpected < operator.t.
Where this tonnage exceeds that reported in year of the corresponding annual report, this may be due to the following reasons:
- Tonnage may have been received but not incinerated, i.e. the material is held pending incineration (the operator return to the EA reports as received whereas the annual report focuses on when the waste is incinerated.)
- Material may have been received into the site but treated in some other way than incineration.
- Material may have been received on the but transferred out of site for disposal/treatment at another site rather than incineration on the site.
