Summary
Hooton Bio Power is an EfW facility utilising Advanced Combustion Technologies that is located Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and is currently under construction. The facility will have a capacity of 240,000 tonnes per annum of Municipal Solid Waste, and generate 25.2 MW of electricity to be exported to the grid after the plants own power needs are supplied for. The facility has been developed by CoGen with BWSC as the turnkey EPC contractor and providing O&M services, the EfW is 100% owned by Aviva investors. The waste aggregator N+P will be the waste supplier for the plant, providing locally sourced waste under a 15-year feedstock supply agreement[1].
History
The facility reached financial close in October 2018, with BWSC beginning construction in November 2018. Construction and commissioning is scheduled to end with operations commencing in the second half of 2021[2].
