Revision as of 18:26, 23 April 2020 by Bin52 (talk | contribs)

Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is a process where biodegradable material is broken down by microorganisms in the absence of oxygen in an enclosed vessel. The process produces carbon dioxide, a Biogas and nutrient-rich solids/liquors known as digestate which can be used as fertiliser and compost. Anaerobic digestion uses biodegradable waste materials such as agricultural manure and slurry, Food Waste and Sewage sludge[1]. Where the process utilises Animal By-product Material, in must comply with the Animal By-Products (Enforcement) (England) Regulations 2011 requirements.
