Thermal Disinfection or heat treatment systems are used in the treatment of Healthcare Waste.

They rely on heating the waste to a fixed temperature for a specified time to deactivate the infectious elements and kill pathogens in the waste[1]. The continuous monitoring and recording of waste temperature and time are critical to ensuring the required temperature level is achieved for the entire body of the waste[1].
