The plant is located on the Slough Trading Estate, close to the Slough Heat & Power facility, which is based on biomass feedstock.

Technology

The plant technology comprises standard moving grate technology, producing super-heated steam with an operational capacity of 545,000 tonnes per annum, generating 50MWe [1].

Construction

The plant gained planning permission in 2017, and was delivered by an EPC turnkey arrangement with Hitachi Zosen Inova technology. Construction was reported completed in August 2024[2].

Waste Input

The plant is intended to run on waste derived fuel from residual Household Waste and Commercial Waste, with around two thirds identified for long term contract.
