Summary

An EfW facility based upon conventional combustion technology that was granted planning permission in December 2020 and has a permitted capacity of 84,900 tonnes per annum. This consent replaced an earlier consent for a gasification technology with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum. Construction was reported to have commenced in May 2024 with planned operation by early 2026[1].

The site is part of the wider activity at Binn Eco Park, near Perth, Scotland, owned by the Binn Group, funded by Paprec for 120m euros[2] it will be built and operated by Paprec Energies Binn a joint venture between Paprec and the Binn Group.

Technology

The plant technology will comprise standard moving grate technology by Martin[3], with an operational capacity of 89,000 tonnes per annum, generating 8.6MWe with 7.3MWe net for export.

Construction

The plant gained planning permission in December 2020. Construction was reported to have commenced in may 2024 for operation by early 2026[4].

Waste Input

The plant is intended to run on residual Household Waste and Commercial Waste from the adjacent processing facilities on the site.
