RDF, Autoclave, MHT or Similar

This is a ‘waste destination’ description that appears in WasteDataFlow.

Waste Disposal Authorities will select this option from a drop down list within WasteDataFlow if their Residual Waste collected by the Waste Collection Authorities or collected from the Household Waste Recycling Centres has bee sent to either of these treatment options.

Refuse Derived Fuel is the most popular treatment and disposal option of the three mentioned above with a large number of Waste Disposal Authorities choosing to consign their Residual Waste down this treatment and disposal route. MHT still remains an option for Waste Disposal Authorities in some parts of the country although it is not as popular as it once was. Autoclave is now mainly only used for the treatment of Healthcare Waste rather than Residual Waste.
