Calorific Value (CV) is a measure of the amount of energy contained within the waste that could be potentially released when it is completely combusted under specific conditions. It is a measure of heating power and is dependent upon the composition of the waste [1].

This can be referred to as Net Calorific Value (NCV) or as Gross Calorific Value (GCV).
