Reprocessor

The term generally used by an business that takes materials that have been either collected (i.e. via Dry Segregated Collection) or sorted (i.e. via a MRF) into their component parts and uses them to produce new products, as opposed to separating mixed materials for onward shipping for use by others. Examples might include a Paper Mill taking Cardboard to produce new Cardboard, or News & PAMS to make new newspaper or Cardboard products. Other examples could include a Plastics Reprocessor that may take a particular Plastic type for processing into pellets and for extrusion into new products.

When a Reprocessor produces an end product, often defined by achieving an End of Waste status, they generally will be able to claim a PRN for the tonnage recycled in respect of Packaging Waste
