3Rs Walsall
An EfW facility based upon conventional combustion technology and which reached financial close and entered construction in December 2023. Walsall Energy Recovery Facility has a permit capacity of 478,300 tonnes and a forecast operational capacity of 436,000 tonnes per annum. The project is owned by Encyclis and was originally developed by BH Energy Gap as 3R Walsall.

Summary
An EfW facility based upon conventional combustion technology and which reached financial close and entered construction in December 2023. The project is owned by Encyclis and was originally developed by BH Energy Gap as 3R Walsall.
Technology
The plant technology will comprise 2 lines of a standard moving grate technology, producing super-heated steam and 49MWe[1] anbd is designed for future CHP capability.
Construction
The plant is to be delivered under a EPC turnkey arrangement with Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) and initial groundworks were delivered by McAuliffe - which were funded with a loan from the West Midlands Combined Authority ahead of financial close.
Waste Input
The plant is intended to run on residual Household Waste and Commercial Waste provided by a range of local and regional waste companies.
