Oldhall EfW Plant

An EfW facility based upon standard combustion technology. The Oldhall EfW Plant site was developed by Doveyard Limited, originally a joint venture between Waste Energy Partners and Low Carbon Limited and acquired by Octopus Renewables as part of the funding of the project.

Summary

An EfW facility based upon standard combustion technology. The Oldhall EfW Plant site was developed by Doveyard Limited, a joint venture between Waste Energy Partners and Low Carbon Limited with funding from Octopus Renewables, and reached financial close in October 2021. The development is on land owned by Lowmac Alloys near Irvine, North Ayrshire .

Technology

The plant is a 1 line, moving grate based technology by Standardkessel Baumgarte, delivering up to 15MWe.

Construction

The plant is being constructed under a turnkey EPC arrangement by STC Power SRL with an operation and management contract also with STC Power SRL. Operation is due to commence in Q2 of 2024.

Waste Input

The plant is designed to run on 180,000 tonnes per year of prepared RDF under 10 year arrangements with Geminor for 100,000 tonnes per annum and Lowmac Alloys for 50,000 tonnes per year . Some press releases in October 2021 state the capacity as 185,000 tonnes per year.
