Skelton Grange EfW Plant
Skelton Grange is described as a combined heat and power facility which when constructed and fully operational will process 410,000 tonnes of residual waste to generate 49 MW (gross) of partially renewable baseload electricity. It reached financial close at the beginning of July 2021[1].
Overview
The Skelton Grange EfW facility will be located at a site in south Leeds and is being developed by the energy from waste Enfinium which was created by the coming together of Wheelabrator UK and Multifuel Energy[1]. Once constructed and fully oeprational it will divert up to 410,000 tonnes of non-recyclable residual waste from landfill or export and be used to generate 47MW (gross)/41MW (net) of partially renewable, baseload energy each year to power around 102,000 homes[2].
The combined heat and power-enabled facility will process business and residential waste from across Yorkshire and the wider region and export power to the National Grid[2].
In January Enfinium Skelton Grange EfW Plant signed two long terms waste supply contracts for over 50% of the facility's annual capacity with Suez UK and Beauparc, the latter with residual waste from its AWM site which is situated a mile from the proposed location of the plant[2]. Beauparc and Enfinium have previous history, working together on both the FM1 and FM2 developments with SSE plc at Ferrybridge[2] at Knottingley, west Yorkshire. Furter long term contracts were signed with Biffa and B&M Waste in June 2021[1].

Hitachi Zosen Inova has been named as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract (EPC) contractor for the delivery of the facility[1].
