Caledonian CHP
Caledonian CHP facility is designed to run on both waste wood and virgin wood and provides power and steam to the co-located papermill.
The plant is based at UPM's Caledonian Paper Mill in Irivine, Scotland.

Plant Description
A bubbling Fluidised Bed technology based on standard combustion, supplied by Valmet with feasibility, EPC and engineering services for EPCM supplied by AFRY[1][2]
The plant raises 99MWth (the entire steam requirements of the papermill) and 28MWe (around half the requirments of the papermill)[1][2].
The plant is designed to process an average of 29 tonnes per hour of feedstock (equivalent to around 240,000 tonnes at 8,300 hours a year - although the annual reports do not consistently report tonnage, or the split between waste and virgin wood)[3].
History
The plant was construcuted between 2007 and 2009 and is operated by UPM-Kymmene (UK) Ltd[2][3].
