The facility comprises a pre-treatment facility for residual waste.
The facility is to be constructed on a merchant basis for non-hazardous residual waste, i.e. with no reliance on any long term contracts, in order to offer a solution for the pending landfill ban in Scotland [1][3] which has been delayed beyond its intended date of 31st December 2025.
