Plant Description
The facility was delivered via a Design, Build, Operate contract with AmeyCespa (with Volker Fitzpatrick as Amey's civil engineering partner) which started in Spring 2014 and which was commissioned in summer 2018.
The Gasification technology was delivered by Energos via two lines of their grate technology, and AmeyCespa (now Thalia Waste Management) had to step in when the technology company went into liquidation in 2016 [3] (which also impacted upon the Glasgow and Sinfin Lane facilities).
History
The Milton Keynes facility was built as an integrated solution primarily to service a 15 year PPP contract with Milton Keynes Council signed in June 2013[3].
The facility comprises a Mechanical Treatment sorting facility (140,000 tonnes per year of residual waste) which then delivers organic waste to an Anaerobic Digstion Facility (32,000 tonnes per annum) and RDF to the EfW facility (94,000 tonnes per annum)[1][2][3].
