Plant Description
Templeborough Biomass Ltd contracted a consortium to build the power plant made up of Interserve Construction Ltd and Babcock & Wilcox Volund (B&W Volund).
The plant is a standard combustion approach based on a single moving grate design based on the B&W Volund DynaGrate technology[1].
Whilst the permit is for up to 320,000 tonnes a year of waste wood, the design is based on 270,000 tonnes a year to generate 44.1MWe gross (40.1MWE net) from a single turbine[4].
The plant is presently operated by BWSC Generation Services[3]
History
The Templeborough site was originally developed by Bright Partnerships who secured the site and the planning consent to develop the biomass facility. At financial close Copenhagen Infrastrucutre Partners (CIP), who provided the equity and debt finance for the scheme, purchased the project and set up the new operating company Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd[1].
The total cost of the project was c.£200m GBP[1].
In October 2019 London based Greencoat Capital announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Ltd from CIP[2].
