An EfW facility based upon conventional combustion technology, Walsall Energy Recovery Facility (also known as 3Rs Walsall) has permitted operational capacity of 487,300 tonnes per year with an expectation of 436,000 tonnes per year[1].

Plant Description
The plant is to be delivered by Hitachi Zosen Inova (now Kanadevia Inova) under a Design & Build EPC-turnkey contract[1] - using their own standard combustion single grate technology[3].
The design expectation is 436,000 tonnes per annum[1][3] (with the permit set at 478,300 tonnes per annum) producing 49.9MWe[4].
History
The plant was orignallt developed by BH Energy Gap, who called the project The 3R's@Fryers Road, Walsall[5].
The plant reached financial close in December 2023, with Encyclis taking over the project, with an expected start date in 2027[2].
The plant is designed to run on residual Household Waste and Commercial Waste.
