Westfield EfW
An EfW facility based upon conventional combustion technology, located at Westfield Opencast Site, Fife in Scotland. The Westfield EfW Plant has a permitted capacity of 250,000 tonnes per year.
The site is operated by Kanadevia Inova on behalf of Westfield Energy Recovery Ltd - a joint venture between Virdior and Equitix. The plant is designed to process residual Household and Commercial waste with delivery by road[1].

Plant Description
Hitachi Zosen Inova (now Kanadevia Inova) was the EPC and is the Operational and Management contractor for this facility.
The reciprocating moving-grate, single line, combustion technology is a Kanadevia Inova proprietry solution[4].
The design capacity is 24,084 tonnes at a NCV of 10MJ/kg over 8,100 hours a year operaiton generating 26.8MWe gross (24.1MWe net) via a steam turbine[6].
History
The site is owned by Hargreaves Services and was developed by Brockwell Energy[1][2].
In September 2022 it was announced that Westfield Energy Recovery Ltd (the owner of the project) was sold by Brockwell Energy to a joint venture between Viridor and Equitix[2].
Construction commenced in February 2022 and the plant became fully operational in June 2025[1] although it was ramping up over 2025 until it reached close to stable operations at the ned of the year[6].
In December 2025 Equitix increased their stake in Viridor with a path to acquire 50% of the business[7].
