Widermerpool
Widermerpool Biomass Power Plant (also known as Sherwood Biomass Facility) is designed to process up to 70,000 tonnes a year of primarily waste wood generating 6.7MWe (5.7MWe to the grid) and 4.5 MWth heat for the adjacent John Brook Sawmill operation.

Plant Description
The facility is based on standard combustion and a single line moving grate technology[3][5].
History
Developed by Pinnacle Power and Mycock Associates the plant was built by STC Power for Equitix[2]
Alpha Construction Ltd acted in the role of Principle Contractor for STC Power under CDM, with delivery of the concrete foundation/pit strucutre, foundations, floors etc[2] the total plant is reported to have cost £30m[3]
Owned originally by Equitix it was acquired by Gren in 2023 and the permit is in the name of Gren (Nottingham) Ltd[4].
The site is operated on behalf of Gren under a 20 year contract by Veolia which commenced in 2015[1].
