Farm Waste Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facilities primarily receive agricultural sludges and vegetable wastes. Some facilites also have a proportion of crops added to the process (which are not waste and so not reported). Sites listed on this page have an environmental permit, and those AD sites on farms that that process purely energy crops (such as maize), with or without the processing of slurries, are not included in this listing.

Typically Farm Waste AD plants are smaller scale AD plants and often recover heat and power for use in the adjacent farm - although some are at larger scale and are more closely aligned with the Food Waste AD infrastructure type.
